Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

1. Overview

DealIntel ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect: email address, password (stored hashed, never in plaintext), name, phone number (optional), ZIP code, and vehicle preferences.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service, including: pages viewed, deals clicked, filters saved, searches performed, and actions taken (contacted, bought, passed). This data is used to improve the Service and personalize your experience.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. We receive only a confirmation of payment status and subscription tier from Stripe.

Vehicle Listing Data

We aggregate publicly available vehicle listing data from third-party classified platforms and licensed data providers using automated collection methods. This data includes listing titles, prices, descriptions, locations, and photos as posted by third-party sellers. We do not systematically collect or store personal contact information of vehicle sellers. Listing data may be hours or days old; availability and pricing should always be verified directly with the seller.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service (deal scoring, valuations, saved filters, email digests)
  • To personalize your experience (local deals based on ZIP code, vehicle preferences)
  • To send email notifications you have opted into (deal digests, account updates)
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To improve our valuation algorithms and data quality
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

4. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect Social Security numbers or government IDs
  • We do not collect financial account numbers (bank accounts, credit cards) — Stripe handles all payment processing
  • Our Chrome extension does not transmit any browsing data, Facebook data, or third-party website content to our servers

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share limited data with:

  • Stripe — for payment processing
  • SendGrid — for transactional and digest emails (email address only)
  • Law enforcement — if required by valid legal process

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including: encrypted passwords (bcrypt hashing), TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit, access controls on our database, and encrypted database connections. However, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., valuation accuracy statistics) may be retained indefinitely.

8. Your Rights

We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

10. Chrome Extension

The DealIntel Chrome extension operates entirely within your browser. It may send vehicle information (year, make, model, price) to our API for deal scoring. It does not transmit any data from Facebook, your browsing history, or any content from websites other than the specific vehicle listing data needed for scoring.

11. Children's Privacy

DealIntel is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
